Serendipidouche…(Friday Fictioneers)

Percival was a steel magnate struggling to hide his family’s bankruptcy.

Because he was bankrupt he had failed to pay his gas bill.

As such the ornate lamps that lit his vast estate stood dormant.

Because it was dark a daring vision of loveliness lost her bearings and crashed her light aircraft in a nearby field.

Percival rushed to her aid and the two were instantly smitten.

News of their unusual and joyous union spread throughout the land, and lucrative public appearances abounded.

The vision of loveliness later lost interest…

But Perceval paid her little mind…

After all…

HE WAS RICH!!!

  1. And both lived happily ever after, I guess… with someone else.

  2. If all she meant to him was a return to wealth, she’s better off without him.

  3. Well, this was his win!

  4. At least he ended up with his one true love. 😀

  5. I agree with Granonine – she’s well shot of him!

  6. Percival doesn’t seem to have learned anything through his experience.

  7. The proverbial windfall. You’ve covered a lot of ground in this story. 🙂

  8. Percival sounds like an early beneficiary of celebrity culture!

  9. Ha! Sounds like they both at least got something out of that flying mishap! Great story Martin and good twist on the prompt

  10. Nice take on the photo prompt.

  11. This seems like the first act of a story in which he learns the folly of his money-grubbing ways…. Or maybe he just lives out everyone’s fantasy of being rich because someone landed from the sky and saved him. 😉

  12. I don’t hold out much for Percival and happiness. He doesn’t sound like the type who will use his new-found wealth wisely.

  13. First the skyfall and then the high ligh. Great twist. Loved this, MARTIN.

  14. Percival is a stinker. I could care less about his bank account. She lost interest in him probably because of his snobbishness. Some people just can’t handle their new found wealth and they end up being the losers. So sad. Good story!

  15. Ha.. love the title. Think that he cared to much about his wallet though

  16. Well, as long as Percival’s happy. You crammed so much into your 100-words. Well done.
